Social Work Assistant/Associate Professor
The Social Work Program is seeking applications for an assistant/associate professor/tenure track position to begin in August 2013 on its Salina campus.
This position includes teaching, research and service in a nationally accredited undergraduate Social Work Program. Kansas State University offers the Social Work Program on its Manhattan and Salina campuses. Candidates are required to have:
- PhD or equivalent degree in Social Work or social science field, Masters degree in Social Work from an accredited program, and two years post MSW social work practice experience.
- Practice, teaching and/or research experience in social work with individuals, families, groups, and organizations and communities.
- Demonstrated potential for developing a focused line of research.
- Demonstrated potential for securing extramural funding.
- Qualified for Social Work licensure in Kansas.
Teaching assignment will include social work practice with individuals, families, and groups in both practice and HBSE courses along with Introduction to Social Work. An understanding of diversity and experience working with a diverse student body is significant. Expertise and practice experience in the addictions field or gerontology are highly desirable.
Knowledge of research methods and evidence based practice is beneficial. Organizational, community and policy practice interest will be considered. Specific teaching assignments are made with consideration of interests and expertise of all teaching faculty.
Responsibilities include academic advising, student admissions, student research, department and university committees and pursuit of extramural funding.
Full time/tenure-track faculty members teach five courses over the academic year, initiate and complete a focused line of research, complete committee assignments, perform community and institutional service, and serve as academic advisors. The Social Work Program has approximately 220 students in Manhattan and 30 in Salina. The program has ten and one half faculty members with seven in Manhattan and three and one half in Salina.
