Plumber Senior

This full time position exists to provide skilled plumbing services to the K-State Salina Campus.  Duties include all types of plumbing tasks for the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, restroom fixtures, pumps, plumbing systems, backflow preventers, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  Two (2) years’ experience as a plumber.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Valid Driver’s License upon employment, completion of van training, certification for Class 1 Asbestos Worker, and medical certification to wear respiratory equipment, Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Certification all within the probationary period.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must have the mobility to access small work areas, climb ladders, and work in varying temperatures and heights.  Work requires considerable physical exertion to transport materials/supplies weighing 50 pounds or more unassisted, regularly, on a daily basis.  Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Prefer high school graduate or equivalent and vocational training in the building plumbing trade.  Prefer four (4) years’ experiences in commercial plumbing work with two at the journey level.  Skilled experience in operating and maintenance of portable and stationary power tools.  Prefer journey level knowledge of laws, regulations, occupational hazards, standard safety practices as required by OSHA, and repair of gas, water, and sewer lines.  Prefer ability to use the standard tools of the trade.  Ability to read and understand specific instructions in English.

SALARY:  $15.74 - $16.94 per hour plus a $.30 incentive pay = $16.05-$17.24 per hour

REGULAR HOURS OF WORK:  8:00 am to 5:00 PM
