WHAT MAKES K-STATE MILITARY FRIENDLY?

We are Yellow Ribbon Program approved.
We accept your Post-9/11 GI Bill so that you can earn a bachelor's degree in professional pilot, aviation maintenance, unmanned aircraft systems, or another of our many programs.
Three national credit by examination opportunities are available: the College Level Examination Program (CLEP), the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), and the Excelsior College Exams.
We give ACE credit for military training and experience
A large number of our faculty and staff are veterans.

FAQ's

What forms are needed?
You will need your DD214 and the Kansas State University Veteran Information Sheet at www.k-state.edu/sfa/forms/vetinfo.pdf. You need to complete the form at the beginning of every semester.

What is the current BAH for K-State?
In 2010, full-time students were receiving $1,074 a month. K-State Salina students receive the same rate as K-State Manhattan students. For the most current figure check www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/bah.html.

Does the Post-9/11 GI Bill cover the cost of flight fees if I am in the professional pilot program?
Yes, flight fees will be covered up to the FAA minimums for all ratings including private as long as you meet the criteria below and have an honorable discharge. The following criteria reflect the 2010 rate, as listed on the Department of Veterans website https://www.gibill2.va.gov/. (Answer ID 947).

Will I be able to work and go to school?
That depends on you and your course load. Most students do work at least a part-time job, but whether or not you work is your choice.

Can I use the Montgomery GI Bill?
Yes.
