Career potential in air traffic control is growing both at home and abroad. As the current workforce ages and begins to retire, the industry will see a great demand for air traffic controllers in America and, as the aviation industry gains ground in the developing world, there is great demand globally. With controller salaries averaging near $100,000 annually at larger facilities, the career potential is truly exciting for persons with the spatial and communication skills necessary for this dynamic and challenging field.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM & FACILITIES
In a unique approach, future controllers are first trained as pilots through an instrument rating at the tower-controlled airport. This immerses students in the terminology and operational environment of aviation, giving them a better understanding of what is expected of ATC. Flight training is followed with basic and advanced ATC courses and industrial experience as well as management courses which prepares students for careers as experienced ATC managers. K-State hires adjunct faculty employed in the field to share real-life experiences in the classroom.
